THE INFAMOUS CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

In the realm of baking, few things elevate a cake, cupcake, or pastry item. I have yet to create nor eat a frosting quite like cream cheese frosting!

I literally do not know one person who is not obsessed with cream cheese frosting.

    Like… no one.

I also know only one person who is not a cake eater… my sister. Everyone else is obsessed with red velvet cake, spice cake, vanilla cake, chocolate cake, pumpkin cake, carrot cake… even lemon cake! Now these are are very delicious cakes, but you simply have to have this cream cheese/buttercream frosting recipe.

It has been husband approved, family approved, neighbor approved, you name it. Take it from them!

Cream cheese frosting holds such a luxurious texture while still providing a tangy-sweet flavor. This topping and addition has the power to transform even the simplest dessert or last-minute boxed dessert into a show-stopping piece.

Today, we are going to dive into the delectable world of cream cheese frosting. There are many ways to go about this dish, but this has been one of my favorite frosting recipes I have made!

Although I am not a picky eater though, I do like my sweets to be absolutely perfect and to die for. I mean, who doesn’t?

I’ve grown up eating frosting. Either with graham crackers, apples, on cake, even by the tub. Me and my girlfriends growing up used to buy the tub container of frosting… needless to say I have grown kinda sick of that stuff. I knew I needed my own recipe.

After making and perfecting this simple recipe, I can say I found my dream frosting. Definitely NOT healthy, but you will love it. Although everyone has different preferences of frosting, this is a great in-between, meet in the middle frosting. I promise it won’t disappoint you.

** I obviously had to bring pink into this… **

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 oz (or block) full fat cream cheese
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt (if you have salted butter, forget this step)
  • 3-4 cups confectioner’s sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

    1. In a mixing bowl or kitchen aid, add your room softened cream cheese and butter. Mix until smooth and creamy. This usually takes about a minute.

    2. Add your salt (if using unsalted butter) and vanilla extract. Blend altogether!

    3. Finally, add your confectioner’s sugar slowly into the mix. Mix on a lower speed until all of the sugar is combined. After combined, switch to higher speed until frosting is fluffy.

**  I made the mistake of inviting my brother-in-laws over… basically ate the whole thing haha! **

Here are some cupcakes that I made not too long ago. I am still perfecting my cake batter recipe, so that is still in the works.

Here are some tips you will need to make the best whatever you’re making! You WILL need full fat cream cheese. Do NOT substitute it with a lower fat cream cheese as you will not have the same results. Your cream cheese will turn out possibly runny or not as tasty! Make sure to put your frosting on cool cake batter. When applied while the cake is still hot, your frosting will melt!

Follow these tricks, and I promise you will have an impeccable cake on your hands.

Like I said earlier, cream cheese frosting is more than just a topping. It’s personally my favorite part of these dishes! No matter what the occasion is for this frosting it doesn’t matter if you’re creating this for yourself or for a special occasion; this smooth frosting never fails to impress anyone, and it’s perfect for every occasion.

The next time you’re in the kitchen, whip up a batch of homemade cream cheese frosting and watch as it takes your desserts to new heights. After all, life is too short to resist the temptation and allure of cream cheese frosting!

Let me know if you tried this recipe or if you made any changes! Would love to see your work!
