This recipe is one of my all-time favorite things to make… and eat!
Comfort baking has taken its toll lately, and one of them is the rival of the soul-soothing aroma of freshly baked bread.
I decided to take it a step further and did what everyone loves… add chocolate!
With this Chocolate Chip Loaf Bread, it is the perfect blend of pantry staples you most likely already have – flour, sugar, baking powder, and a touch of magic in the form of butter, eggs, vanilla extract, milk, and of course, the star of the show… chocolate chips.
This recipe promises the be the ultimate symphony of flavors that will be sure to captivate your taste buds as well as those around you.
The Foundation:
I love how every culinary masterpiece begins with the simplest ingredients. For the Chocolate Chip Loaf Bread, we start with all-purpose flour as the base. This provides the perfect and most promising structure for a soft and moist loaf. We all need a moist loaf in our life!
The sugar is one of the most important ingredients because it adds to the sweetness aspect. That’s what makes this loaf so delicious! It mixes well with so many different ingredients! The baking powder imparts that essential rise that is needed, and because of that, it creates a heavenly texture.
The salt enhances the overall flavor of the loaf, and it adds the perfect balance of sweetness and richness to the chocolate chips. But I can’t forget about my favorite ingredient – butter! Call me Southern, but butter is always the unsung hero. When the butter is incorporated, it introduces a velvet quality to the loaf. I think this is what truly makes the load moist and creates that nice tender crumb that will leave you reaching for another slice.
The Binding Elements:
These elements mainly conclude the eggs and vanilla extract.
Eggs play a huge role in baking, and it is the binding agent that brings all the ingredients together. Personally, I know the importance of choosing high-quality eggs to achieve the best texture for your loaf, but I have never been one to pay too much attention to this step!
But one ingredient I am huge about is having high-quality vanilla extract! I don’t like the imitation vanilla. My favorite is using Mexican Vanilla! I find that ingredient brings all my recipes to life. It truly introduces a warm and aromatic note, especially to this loaf recipe, that enhances the overall experience for the Chocolate Chip Loaf Bread.
Liquid Magic:
The reason why milk is added to the batter is to help achieve the perfect consistency. The milk helps with the moisture of the bread, but it also imparts a subtle richness that complements the other ingredients. Personally, I have not experienced much with the different types of milk, but I have found that whether it’s whole milk or a milk alternative, it should turn out just fine!
The True Star:
Now I said that the butter was the best ingredient, it really is! But in this recipe, the chocolate chips take priority. These little morsels of joy are what transform a regular old loaf into a decadent treat. Personally, I am particular about what chocolate chip is best. I will always be a milk chocolate girl, but I also love a semi-sweet girl! But it doesn’t matter what type of chocolate you put in there. What matters most is how gooey this Chocolate Chip Loaf Bread can get.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup flour, sifted
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 package of chocolate chips (12 oz)
Let’s get into the steps!
To bring it all together, I start off by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. I also take this time to grease my loaf pan with butter or oil to prevent sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Once sifted, put the bowl aside.
In another mixing bowl or KitchenAid, add the butter and sugar. Mix until mixture gets fluffy.
Once fluffy, add the eggs. Mix until they are fully incorporated.
Once incorporated, add half of the flour mixture. Continue to stir at a low speed. Once incorporated, add the milk and vanilla to the mixture. Mix for a minute.
Once the milk and vanilla are incorporated, add the remaining flour mixture into the bowl. Mix until fully incorporated. Once mixed completely, add the bag of chocolate chips. Let that mix for thirty seconds.
Pour the mixture into your greased loaf pan. Once done, place the pan in the oven. Let cook for forty minutes or when a knife is placed in the loaf/nothing comes off the knife.
Place the loaf on a cooling rack. Let is sit for a few minutes.
Dig in and enjoy!
As always, let me know if you make this recipe!
